TG Omori Discusses the Financial Burden of Kidney Failure Treatment

Music video director TG Omori has opened up about the financial strain of treating kidney failure, saying the experience made him understand how important money is when facing a serious health issue. During a recent episode of the Afropolitan podcast, Omori said he had spent a substantial amount on medical care, particularly dialysis. He explained that while some hospitals charge about 50,000 to 70,000 per dialysis session, he paid between 150,000 and 200,000 per session at the private facility where he was treated. According to him, patients may need as many as three dialysis sessions per week, meaning the cost could reach roughly 500,000 weekly and rise to about 600,000 when additional tests and medication are required. Omori said that continuing dialysis for a year while waiting for a transplant could cost around 31 million, excluding possible complications and other medical expenses. He noted that even someone earning 1 million monthly could struggle to cover such costs, and he emphasized the importance of financial support during major health challenges. Reflecting on his experience, Omori said, "Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy you time."
